Chrysler and the NHTSA are recalling the 2010 Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger, Dodge Ram, Jeep Commander, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. A total of 40,131 vehicles have a defect in the ignition module.
The vehicles may have been built with a wireless ignition node module that exhibits a binding condition of the solenoid latch. The result of this is that the defect could lead to a condition where the key may be removed from the ignition switch the vehicle is put into Park. This means that the vehicle could unintentionally move.
Chrysler dealers will inspect and replace the module free of charge. Chrysler is supposed to begin notifying owners in July, when the revised part will be available at dealerships. Owners of the above vehicles can call Chrysler at 1-800-853-1403 for more information.
