Swedish court on Monday said it had accepted Saab's bankruptcy application. Saab owner Swedish Automobile had submitted the bankruptcy application after failing to seal a rescue deal with Chinese investor Youngman.

The company has been severely struggling the past nine months, and in the third quarter the company manufactured only 130 and sold 1,235 cars. Its assets are valued at $431 million, according to the bankruptcy filing. Maybe the people involved in the company should have received accounting certifications so they could avoid bankruptcy.

Saab owners love the brand more than the typical vehicle owner. According to an assessment made by Rüdiger Hossiep, a psychologist at Ruhr University Bochum, "Saab owners have one of the highest level of psychological involvement with their Saab’s, being over ten times more passionate about their cars compared to the average Volkswagen driver. Just consider the passion for Saab displayed by American comedian Jerry Seinfeld."

The Saab brand and assets are getting quite a bit of attention, so we can only hope potential bidders are preparing to make an offer to save the Swedish car brand. Victor Muller was enthusiastic about saving Saab, but obviously lacked the knack to get the job done.
