Next up in Mitsubishi's Lancer-like family is a new crossover riding on Mitsubishi's mid-size global platform (which also underpins the Lancer and Outlander). Carscoop was able to get these renderings, and though it has some similarities to the cX concept, the production version won't be as ferocious.

The compact crossover will slot in beneath the Outlander and above the Lancer Sportback, competing with the Chevy Equinox, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue and Ford Escape.

It will be powered by a variety of four-cylinder engines including a new 1.8L turbo-diesel with 136 horsepower and loads of torque.

Mitsubishi has confirmed with Carscoop that the new crossover will debut at the Geneva Motor Show after going on sale in Japan in February 2010.
