The MINI Coupe Concept can best be described in one word: stunning.

While the MINI Cooper was cute in a nostalgic sort of way, and the Cooper S and Works models looked like they meant business to a certain degree, the new Coupe Concept looks serious.

From the window line down, the design just screams MINI. Below the chrome strip, where the windows begin, everything is more refined and just that little bit more aggressive. The nose is sloped more for an aerodynamic look and the front bumper makes it obvious that this little thing just wants to go quick.

The headlights still have that same innocent, round look, but are more horizontal than vertical when compared to previous MINI designs. This again lends itself to the sporty, aerodynamic look.

The greenhouse and roof of this car are by far my favorite design. This is the farthest departure from traditional MINI designs since the Morris era at the beginning of the Cooper movement. The shape of the roof itself is a sloping masterpiece that is disconnected from the rest of the vehicle. The lines start in a classic coupe position and sweep back to end in a subtle spoiler along the back window.

On the side is where the design really works. The pillars are painted black to match the window tints in order to give a uniform feel to the top half of this car.  By separating the roof from the rest of the car with the black windows and pillars. MINI brings back the image of current Coopers, solidifying the brand image.

The rear quarter window is very small because the roof cuts back low to outline the side windows for the driver and passenger.

One of the most subtle design features of this car, but one of my favorites, is the racing stripe located on the hood and roof of the Coupe Concept. The stripe is the same color as the roof but the stripe on the roof is the same color as the rest of the car. A very clever little reversal.

The MINI Coupe Concept, in my opinion, is one of the best designs that has come from any car manufacturer in recent years. There is literally nothing about this car that I dislike.

Every line has been thought out and invokes the history of the MINI brand but also points the brand into an even younger, hipper, and faster future. This is my absolute favorite car at the moment and I would love to see it on the streets sooner rather than later.
