While doing a patent search for a totally different vehicle yesterday, I stumbled across this vehicle that looks very much like the next-gen Honda Civic. From the images Honda included in the patent filing, that was just granted on September 8, 2009, we can see they have ditched the styling cues seen on most of the current Honda line-up.
They instead, have opted to go with a design that is very close to that of Honda FCX Clarity fuel cell vehicle that was introduced earlier this year. The grille is also very similar to the ill-received Honda Accord Crosstour, but the Civic seems to wear it a lot better. Out back, we can see some of the details of the trunk and tail lamps were taken directly from the current BMW 3-series sedan.
Still not convinced that this the is next-gen Honda Civic? Take a look at the rear door and you will see that is almost the same shape as the one on the current Civic.
Since, we have found the 2012 Honda Civic through a patent search, we of course have no word on pricing, engine specs, or when it will go on sale. One thing is for certain, we definitely appreciate the direction Honda is taking the design of their popular Civic Sedan.

I'm afraid that's not the Civic - it's the current production Honda City.

Move along, nothing to see here...
Looks like you're right
I can't wait to see the new Civic. I know it will definitely beat that new piece of crap that Chevy is coming out with.
This is it.... The current Honda does not have any raised sections on the hood.. And the new model has no trim on on the sides of the car... I work at Honda.. Have seen the new model.. Kinda looks the same with some great twists.. Has some acura look to it.......
