Found in a parking lot, the camouflaged Chevy Beat pictured here is a four door, which means that there might be optional body styles along with the two-door version that was previewed as a concept. GM stated that the Beat would not be sold here in the US, and the speedometer being listed in kilometers per hour confirms this.

The interior pic shows two gage pods; the circular pod is for the speedometer, and rectangular pod next to it contains a screen for the odometer that is flanked by circular warning lights. The two pods are also attached to the steering column meaning they tilt with the wheel.

For those wondering why the Chevy Beat has been caught numerous times in New York with dealer plates, it's because in the Empire State, dealer and manufacturer plates are the same thing. We'll have our spies keep an eye out to see if we can get any pics of this car undressed.

Another way of confirming its four door body type is through the number of toggle switches on the driver door. It looks like they have chosen to go with a 5 speed transmission over the six. I Definitely agree that at least this version is only meant for Europe.

It's too bad, I'm sure a lot of young people would buy this car for its styling and value.

Dan, I can't believe you caught the toggle switch and the number of gears. Good Eye

I hate to be the devil's advocate, but it is possible that the transmission is a five-speed. After all, sometimes that sixth slot is the reverse gear, and its difficult to read the gear positions on the shift knob. Although it could be a six speed...
