Nissan is showing off a sporty EV concept at the NAIAS this year as part of the Michelin Design Challenge.

The Nissan Mixim, a compact concept car powered by a pair of innovative "Super Motor" electric motor/generators, has the same wheelbase as a Nissan cube, but is more than 11 inches shorter, nearly 10 inches lower and four inches wider.

The exterior features LED headlights, a wraparound windshield inspired by "the visor of a safety helmet," a dramatic angular slash running through the center of the doors and triangular side windows that link the sloping roofline with the sweptback rear hatchback.

The Mixim is a 3-person seater with the driver in the center and the passengers to the left and right.

The powertrain consists of compact lithium-ion batteries and separate motors powering the front and rear axles. Nissan says the all wheel drive, lightweight Mixim offers impressive acceleration and performance.
