The 3 year old Mitsubishi cX Concept has flourished into a fully grown production model, for Europe at least. The cX, or ASX as it would rather be known, still has some growing up to do until it will be ready for the US.

After the concept's debut in Frankfurt in 2007, Mitsubishi finalized the little crossover's design and produced production renderings for display at the LA Auto Show last month. The actual production model, sporting all the recent Mitsubishi design motifs, will finally be unveiled at the 80th Geneva International Auto Show this March.

The ASX is slated to go on sale this spring in Europe and earlier in its native Japan as the RVR. There it will feature Mitsu's new variable-valve MIVEC gasoline engine. In Europe, the ASX will sport an in house designed 4-cylinder 1.8L turbo-diesel powerplant. Mitsubishi hopes to expand its European market hold with the 5 passenger crossover.

No word yet on when we can expect our cXASVR, or whatever it may be called in this hemisphere. However we can expect it to provide a smaller, entry level option to the larger Outlander and Endeavor models. We can only hope for the nifty engine options currently available elsewhere.
