It has been 40 years since the debut of the original Dodge Challenger and Mopar is commemorating the anniversary with a new color scheme. Introducing Furious Fuchsia, or as it may be known to a less enthusiastic crowd, pink. That's right guys and gals, the 2010 Challenger R/T and SRT8 models have the option of being enameled in this vibrant shade of Pepto Bismol.

This limited edition color scheme is part of a package that includes various other design upgrades. Radical, retro paint lines sweep the exterior. A pearl white leather interior makes the car even more nauseatingly striking. Color appropriate pink stitching holds it all together. 20 inch forged aluminum wheels tastefully avert your eyes from the rest of the car. And finally, a serialized plaque graces the dash to remind you that you are in fact driving a pink Challenger, just in case you forgot.

The idea behind the new fuchsia Challengers is to hearken back to the glory days when Mopar muscle was made available in special High-Impact paint schemes. These colors included [but weren't limited to] Plum Crazy Purple, Sublime Green, Banana Yellow and Go Mango Orange. Dodge and the other Chrysler brands had different crazy-fun names for the colors depending on the brand. Back then, Furious Fuchsia was known as Moulin Rouge or Panther Pink. Dodge hasn't announced whether they will revive any of the other nostalgic hues.

Expect to see, or be blinded by, these cars after March 2010 when Dodge will begin accepting orders. A limited run of these Challengers will be produced, including only 400 SRT8's. Expected buyers will surely include collectors and a select few die-hard Mopar fans that will brave ridicule at the next car show.

We don't know why Dodge chose to revive pink out of all its High-Impact colors, but if attention is what the brand was looking for, consider attention granted!

theCD's take: Breast Cancer awareness is at an all-time high. Thanks, Dodge!
