Toyota is drowning in its own crap now that non-recalled vehicles are also experiencing the same symptoms as the recalled vehicles. It looks like Toyota is moving forward...uncontrollably, and can't find the stopping power to halt their mishaps.
A 2004 Toyota 4-Runner in California has exhibited the same symptoms of acceleration and brake failure as the recalled vehicles. The owner of the vehicle, Deanna Reynolds, said that her 4-Runner accelerated briefly as she pulled into a parking spot, causing her to hit the parked PT Cruiser in the next parking spot.
Braking issues are also on the plate for Ms. Reynolds 4-Runner, driving her to get a rental car while her SUV is being diagnosed. Caliber Collision Center is paying for the rental car, believing that the 4-Runner is unsafe to drive.
Toyota supposedly has took a look at the car, but has not driven it . Wait, are they afraid of their OWN vehicle?!
The accelerator pedal used in the 4-Runner is not the same as the pedals in the American made vehicles (which have lead to the recall), so it is very odd that the 4-Runner would experience the same symptoms. The braking problems are a mystery as well.
"I strongly suspect that Toyota does not want to believe that yet another model is having acceleration problems," Reynolds stated, "but, believe me, if anyone had experienced how my accident happened, they would have no doubt that my vehicle is in question."
The 4-Runner that Reynolds owns is a fourth-generation vehicle, sold from 2003-2009. Toyota released the latest generation this year, whose demand has increased since Toyota suspended its other models for recall issues.
