Hyundai is recalling 515 redesigned 2010 Tucson crossovers because of the "passive occupant detection system" or PODS in the front passenger seat. If an adult is properly seated in the seat, and weighs over 240lbs, they might trigger the PODS module to illuminate the airbag warning light.
In the event of a crash with the warning lamp on, the airbag will deploy and not deactivate like it should if a child or small person is in the front passenger seat. This will increase the possibility of injury for that person.
Hyundai will be contacting owners by phone or mail. Dealers will reprogram the PODS module for free to fix the problem.
