Honda and the NHTSA are conducting a "safety improvement campaign" about about 22,000 Honda Odysseys from the 2005 model year. The Odysseys that are affected have a power liftgate.

The gas struts that hold up the liftgate when open could deteriorate unexpectedly early. If that happens, they can fail at holding up the liftgate in the fully open position, causing it to close unexpectedly.

If that happens, a person underneath the liftgate could be injured. Honda says dealers will inspect and replace the struts free of charge if they are included in the recall.
