Earlier this week, we did a design review for the evocative MINI Countryman SUV. Our friends over at MINI Space are giving readers the opportunity to become the designer in their "MINI Countryman Design Competition".
The competition takes a unique look at interior design, by giving people the freedom to design different accessories and functions for the 2011 MINI Countryman's center rail. For those of you not familiar with the 2011 MINI Countryman it is MINI's first Sport Activity Vehicle, which is different from a Sport Utility Vehicle no ways other than its intended use.
The MINI Countryman features a center rail that accessories such as a cup holder, sunglasses case, or iPod cradle can be attached to. Playing on the site's mantra of a "creative use of space", entries are expected to be unique and imaginative. For example, some of the more interesting entries include a MINI bowling alley and a MINI popcorn machine.
The first place winner will receive two roundtrip tickets to Paris, so you and a friend can enjoy the 2010 Paris Motor Show, where your submission will be made into a prototype and make its official debut. Second and third place winners will receive a MacBook Pro and their prototype will also be made and debuted at the Paris Motor Show.
Fourth and fifth place winners will receive the sleek and sexy iPod Touch, which they tickle and stroke while listening to their favorite music or using some of Apple's best apps. Sixth place will receive $100 worth of iTunes music.
To check out rules and regulations click here, or go to the MINI Space site. The deadline for submissions is May 11th, 11:59 GMT.
theCD's take: I can't wait to see who comes up with a better idea than the bowling alley.
